MSEC Alumni :: Meeting minutes (Dec 18th 2010)

Folks, 

Bolstered by the first-time participation of members of the Magalir Koottam, we met again on December 18th to discuss the progress so far and how to move forward wrt the planning for Feb 12.

Developments thus far:

•  Data-collection (address/email id's for the invitations) going on decently enough, though it needs to pick up a bit more.

• Bank-related work has been started for opening an account.
• Website-work started.
• A few programs for the day have been identified with the first batch leading the way.

 Going forward:

• Meeting up with current MSEC students some time in Jan to explain to them about the Alumni club.
• Reaching out to more people to get across the message of the Alumni Meet and invite more people to participate in the events.

 Other points noted down:

• Song and Dance ok if participants are all Alumni, instead of current students
• Batch-wise events idea shelved, instead, anyone from any batch can come forward and speak/present on any topic they choose. But reaching out to different people who might be interested is batch-wise just to ensure network connectivity.

Babai Madam's letter for the Alumni Meet.

Friends,

The letter attached says is all ! we need to reunite and work towards the celebration of the grand alumni meet. As planned we are meeting tomorrow(Dec 18, Saturday 5pn) at the MSEC conference/seminar hall.
We shall be discussing critical issues and a time line to complete various tasks assigned/planned. We shall also be finalizing strategies and a road map to the grand alumni this feb 12, 2011. Friends, come February, we must ensure that this is one of the biggest alumni meets that has happened in Chennai.


Let's recreate the magic of Asthra, Epsilon, Kranti, Pranav and Wafes!!!

MSEC Alumni :: Meeting minutes (Dec 4th 2010)

Engal Iniya MSEC-Alumnus'ukkale...

After much coaxing, prodding and contemplation, we've finally begun preparations for forming an Alumni Association for all of us MSEC'ians who've passed out of college. And Babai mam thought this being the 10th year of MSEC would be a great time for us to launch the Alumni Association.

As a result, a few of us met Babai mam yesterday and discussed plans for the Alumni Meet when it has been planned to officially launch the Alumni Association.

What we discussed yesterday:

>> Formation of the Alumni Club and its functions - includes creating a website for the club, getting contacts of the 6 batches that've passed out of college till now and functions of the Club.

>> Itinerary for the Alumni Meet on Feb 12th 2011 (Saturday).

What the Alumni Club Aims to do:

>> First & foremost, NETWORK all MSEC'ians who've passed out of college so far.

>> Jobs
>> Scholarships/financial assistance for MSEC students 

>> Help connect Alumni in different parts of the globe (and believe us, we MSEC'ians have really infiltrated to all parts of the world!) to establish a sense of belonging.

>> Guest Lectures & Mentor ship.

What this Blog Aims to do:

As part of the run-up till Feb 12, there are different things to be done such as -

>> Website design

>> Designing a Charter/Objective for the Alumni Club
>> Reaching out to folks from all 6 batches that have passed out of college  till now (yes, SIX batches have passed out of college! And this is, by far, the most difficult thing).
>> Plan & coordinate events for Feb 12

Where YOU fit in:

>> First & foremost, we need to collect the contact information for folks from all 6 batches. This is for two things -

1. Inviting them for the Alumni Meet on Feb 12 
2. Including them as part of the Alumni Association

>> Planning for the Feb 12 event. What we could decide upon yesterday was just a brief idea about what we're going to do on the day, however, we would really love it if folks could come forward and contribute more ideas.

>> Content/Data for the website

Next Meet:

Next meet is on December 18th 2010 (Saturday) to discuss further about the Grand Alumni Meet on Feb12th and about the activities of the Alumni association. 

We're still in the early stages, folks. And we've got a long way to go. But we've made a start. And that's what matters. And we're also not setting too unrealistic goals for what the Alumni Club aims to achieve, however, 10 years down the line, we must look back to this day that we formed the club and say contentedly - "Wow, that's a long way we've come!"

Draft Agenda for the Alumni Meet on Feb 12th:

4:00 - 5:00 PM - High Tea and Informal Chit-Chat :D
5:00 - 5:45 PM - Speech from the management + Alumni Site Launch + Speech about Alumni Association. 

5:45 - 7:15 PM - Each batch will give a short presentation about their alumni.
7:15 - 7:30 PM - Surprise Event :D
7:30 - 7:45 PM - Speech by Raman Sir 
7:45 PM onwards - Dinner
